Hi,
Video card in sig, just a stand in one for the moment.
I have noticed that occasionally in windows like when trying to view a video, things slow down somewhat, sooner or later things catch up and all resumes fine. Windows temporarily reverts the 'glass colours for borders' back to a more basic setting appearance is another example. I did also notice something afoot tonight during a game of CS:S, for a few moments the fps just dived to almost an unplayable frame rate, god knows how I got two kills. I think these issues are related.
I'm guessing that although this card is meant for just general use, it might not be that ideal for even that, so, is it simply a lack of vram?
I don't know how long I'll be without a new high end gpu so I was thinking about a very small outlay for something like :

I can't remember the exact spec of the 3450 but apart from the memory being obviously less, it is also at a slower speed than the card in the above link. I think the stream processors are the same though. The nVidia ones are more expensive so apart from second hand the only option in the same price range seems to be the 8400 range, and looking at the spec of those, it doesn't look to be worth it.
