So I'm thinking of getting an elite and will be transfering over all my saves etc.
I have a few memory cards to also help this.

My question is does all the game saves transfer over? I usually back up important game saves to a memory card anyway and some of them cannot be moved. Forza I think was one, a few others I can't remember.

Does the data cable transfer all these saves over or do you lose any?

I'm trying to remember whether it was castle crashers or too human data I couldn't back up. Both games i've put a lot of time into and would hate to lose those saves on transfer over.

I've read a few people lost forza 2 career data.

My forza 2 save transferred over fine, i even had a go it a few months back just to test that it actually worked.

The save for castle crashers is saved in your Gamer profile file. As long as you move your gamer profile to the new box. You'll keep your save.

The data migration cable will transfer everything across as far as I know. I did when I changed to my 120GB HDD.

On the subject of PS3 HDDs, is it possible to take a HDD out of one PS3 and put it straight into another without any mucking about?
I'm still pondering selling my 60GB PS3 and using the cash to buy a new 80GB model, my idea is to simply swap the HDDs over to save on time and shift the old backwards compatible PS3 with the 80GB in it.
Doable?

Yes.

We're on the subject of the Xbox 360 HDDs :p

But iirc you can swap them over but not everything will be playable, i had a message about some things being linked to another console.

Will it carry over my login details and everything?
I ask because I can't for the life of me remember the password I chose for my HK account and I don't want to have to re-buy King of Fighters!

Although you've got the answers you need, just to add the Data Migration Cable worked fine for me too. I bought an Elite in July and also ordered a migration cable as well (which I sold on for a couple £ loss annoyingly but nm).

It took about 35-40 minutes to transfer about 3.5/4GB of data I had from my 20GB HDD. Every game I've checked to date seems to have the save data, additional content intact etc. It was very painless.

The bigger annoyance was using the MS licencing tool to transfer the licences from all my XBLA games etc to the new Elite. Not becuase the web tool was unfriendly or anything but becuase I've built up a library of 22 XBLA games plus other stuff and you have to re-download everything to finish the new licence transfer.

Enjoy your Elite! I have loved the new extra large HDD, but do think the 360 looks better in white. Still all the space on the HDD is going to be great for the game installs.

Yeah thats the only thing putting me off, I prefer white. The trouble is the hard drives are so expensive on there own.

There's always the new 60GB Premium, still a lot of space - although we don't know how many games it'll hold yet. When I bought this Elite in July 60GB were only just annouced and I didn't know when they were coming in.

Sorry to bump an old thread but i'll be picking up a 360 Elite some time this week (probably wednesday or thursday) and was wondering anyone has a migration kit i could borrow?

I really want to transfer my 20gb to the 120gb drive asap without waiting for MS to send one out to me which would take a long time :(

Thanks in advance :)
