I'm doing a friend a favour by setting up a database for him, unfortunately he has a Mac and although i know how to use one (to a degree) my knowledge of software on them is quite limited.

I have acquired a copy of appleworks which i understand has a database application within it but am wondering if it's suitable or if there is a better free alternative. The database itself is probably only going to have 3 - 4 linked tables with up to a thousand records in. I'd like to create a couple of input forms and a couple of queries for it. It's only going to be accessed by him on the same machine. Ease of use takes precedence i would think as i don't need any advanced features.

As a bonus it would be nice if there was one where i could create / configure the database on a PC and just install the app on his laptop and copy the database files over.

Any suggestions?

Nope not a spreadsheet, it'll be a little too complex for that. Just a basic database like MS Access.

Yeah i saw filemaker but dont want to spend any money. From what i can see its pretty much the only cross platform one. If the appleworks one isnt good enough i'll try that eagle one, be nice if someone had some experience of them to recommend or not.
