Does anyone currently use any software to keep track of what they have in their DC's at present? Our environments are changing/growing fairly frequently and so I'm looking at some software (pref. open source) that we can use to keep track of what we have where with a basic set of info and owner detail for the boxes.

Cheers,
Andy

Cheers, just found that and was reading through their docs. Looks as though it could be a good start although it would be good if there was something that auto-populated data. From what I can see you'd need to go in and manually edit it when changes were made in the DC. Ideally I guess we'd need something that could look at a network range and monitor that every day.

I think for that you might need a paid solution, i only use RackTables for asset management and to track network/ip usage, but as you say i need to do it manually, which to be honest is better because i know whats being added and when. I suppose if things will be moved without you knowing it can get a bit rough

yeah thats the problem. If it were just 1/2 people managing the DC then it would be ok but were talking multiple DC's in multiple locations with multiple admins unfortunately.

just found open-audit which looks as though it could be worth taking a deeper look at.

what kind of paid solutions are we looking at by the way?
