Hi guys, for some reason which I'm still looking into my camera is saving the wrong date on my photos exif information. The date is set correctly on the camera though.

Any programs that I can use to sort this out? I have Lightroom 4 if that can do it, I did have a quick look around the menus but didn't see anything.

Thanks!

In LightRoom make sure you are in the Library panel, then in the top menus go to Metadata and Edit Capture Time, you get 3 options, fairly straight forward, I normally use option 2 (time zone).

For example, I went on holiday and forgot to set my time to the correct zone, if you select all the images that you want to shift the same amount and then go in to this menu you can adjust all the images at once to the correct time.

No it only changes the embedded EXIF I guess, no idea for something to change the file date, but then that wouldn't and doesn't bother me as it's only the EXIF I am worried about. Anyway if you edited one of the shots in Photoshop or something and saved it it would give a new date/time.

As long as LR is correct I wouldn't worry too much about the base file :)

That's okay, no worries. Thank you for the help and tips! :)

I'm going to start using Lightroom a lot more so I won't worry about base files either. I'll see if I can figure out why the camera is using the wrong date instead!

Thanks again.

if you take a photo today, what date is shown on the photo?

figure out the difference, change the date on camera by that amount and take a photo. See if it shows today's date.

I took some photos this morning and it set the date as the 10th and time 11PM.

Just took one now and its set the date as the 11th and the time in AM.

The one at the bottom is the one I did a few minutes ago. It's all set on the camera though, with the location set to London.

So it's 12 hours fast? It must be a setting on the camera you've overlooked. Does the file date/time match with the EXIF before you amend it? Which camera is it.

When I view the capture time in Lightroom it lists the same time as in explorer.

I just took another and its put the date as the 10th. I'll go through the settings again, it's a Sony NEX-5.

Yeah, I don't know what it's doing it. I just turned the camera on this morning and it had the 10th as the date so I've set it correctly again and will see how it goes from there.
