Musically I didn't really like much that he ever did but I admired his ability to adapt to different era's and remain relevant in an industry that I imagine is very hard to do so. Regardless RIP :(

his music wasn't really to my liking but as said a couple of posts up I did admire the fact he was able to adapt and change to keep his music popular. definitely a talented individual who will be sorely missed

RIP

well and truly shocked at this news this morning

he was most definitely the master of his art and a massive influence on a hell of a lot of people

R.I.P

One of best songs for me has always been their duo of Under Pressure. And now I can imagine David and Freddie up there, performing that song again.... RIP

I can't remember a time when people seem so genuinely gutted about a death. A little bit of Britain died today I think.

This. I've just come back from the butcher and I welled up talking to him about it. Fully grown men stood in a butcher shop with wet eyes over someone we never knew, sounds daft when you say it. Knew his music though, and that I loved truly.

Somewhat bittersweet thought :(

On that note thought, I found out the other day that Freddie fitted Bowie for some new boots working as a shop assistant a full 10 years before they worked together! Small world

About sums it up, I've been welling up all morning

A sad loss and the guy was incredibly talented. Oddly enough, I put on a couple of his songs on my locals Jukebox.

He will be missed :(

I think we have become very cynical of celebrity and fame over the last 20 years. But Bowie emerged from a time where people could still be taken out of themselves. Somehow he managed to retain an air of magic through the decades that followed. I'm only 36 and no more than a passing fan but I have always found him as an artist utterly fascinating. He has just always been there and always doing something genuinely interesting.

It's very hard in the current day to be transported to another place by an artist of any type. As I say we have all become critics and cynics and we know too much about what goes on behind the curtain these days....social media!

But Bowie seemed to be on a constant journey and you were invited to go with him. Artists today play at this but nobody really believes it, even the young. But I think people are so upset because Bowie made a lot of people feel like in a cynical world a little corner of magic might still really exist.
