Arsenal supremo David Dein has lost his place on the Football Association board, with David Gill of Manchester United replacing him.

The decision came after a vote between all 20 Premiership chairmen, who decide on their four representatives on the board.

The news is a real shock, as Dein was seen as one of the most influential men in English football.

Dein recently received major criticism for his part in appointing the new England manager - as he was perceived to push the claims of Brazilian Luiz Felipe Scolari, who pulled out of the running soon after being interviewed.

Gill, who is already vice-chairman of the G14 Group and an FA council member, is well qualified for the role.

He will now sit alongside Phil Gartside, Robert Coar, and Premier League chairman Dave Richards on the FA board as they look to protect the interest of The Premiership.

Unlucky mate!

Sacked

Nope, jut not re-elected. I expect and hope everyone now blames Gill you know it makes sense;) You have to wonder if the complete non-story yesterday was released for a reason...

I blame David Dein.

Personally i'm a fan of Dein, unlike most premiership representatives he's been a big supporter of lower league football. Arsenal play their reserve games at Barnets Underhill stadium, even though there are plenty of better grounds out there. He's frequently spoken on TV about Barnet FC and how lower league teams are so important to football in Britain. Bearing in mind we're a club with a very unsecure future, its been great to have an ally when everyone else in the FA don't care about anyone outisde the big 5 and national team.

He may have done some dodgy things but i'll be the first to defend him for whats he's done for Barnet, you rarely see David Gill and never Peter Kenyon helping anyone but themselves.

The funny thing is Gill stands for exactly the same thing as Dein and their will be very little change.

Personally I'm pleased it means he'll spend more time at the club, he's done amazing things for us and this means he'll have more time. I hope he becomes our Chairman soon :)
