Got my anthology arrived today :) However, some issues.

I know that the original DoW and WA had screwy patches that messed with widescreen resolutions, and there *are* .ini and camera hacks about, although the minimap tends to get messed up. I can't do that anyway since the game already comes pre-patched to 1.4 as opposed to the more preferred 1.3.

The out-of-game graphics utility lets you choose some low-level 4:3 resolutions before running the game, but once in-game there's a few more, going all the way up to 1600x1024. This is what I don't get..

Since 1600x1024 is very very similar to my Dell's native resolution of 1680x1050, I thought I'd try that and set a 1:1 pixel ratio in the nVidia control panel, that way I'd get very very thin bars on all four edges.

But no! It decides to run in what seems 1280x1024 instead, with two huge ugly black bars at either side of the screen. So, does anyone know any workarounds, or can point out anything I'm doing wrong? Thanks.

As far as I know pre-DC you can't run in widescreen... and even post DC it doesn't support widescreen properly as it just stretches a lower resolution across your screen and leaves you with less visible space than if you had a 4:3 monitor.

Relic don't care about this, whether it be through "we sold it anyway" or a dire limitation of the engine, hopefully won't be an issue in DoW2.

Probably the former, as I doubt it's a technical limitation seeing as it's the same engine as CoH and that runs fine.

I just find it stupid that it specifically lists these non-4:3 resolutions in the in-game dropdown boxes, yet when you select them and restart it decides to ignore it completely and set whatever resolution it likes instead.
