Day of Defeat: Source - FREE ??

I've got HL, HL2, CS and CS:S on Steam and now its letting me download Day of Defeat:Source, does this mean its free now ?
 
cool, will let you know once its downloaded.

I'm not suprised they are giving it away now, it should have been free in the first place to people who bought CS:S

Only the Silver edition if you bought it on Steam (not sure on the Gold). It doesn't come with the in-store retail package at all, if you're talking about HL2 purchase that is. At least that was what the original situation was when it first came out. Not sure on now with it being a failure.

What version of Half-Life 2 did you buy? Are you sure it's just letting you preload it?

You'll only have access to it if you bought Game of the Year edition of Half-Life 2 retail, or have bought a Steam Package with it in.
 
I bought the original HL and then the normal retail HL2 when that came out.

I suspect that DoD:S was a flop because you had to pay extra for it where as the original DoD was free for people who bought the original HL.

im still waiting for it to finish downloading before I can test it.
 
Well it's not a free game, and it's not been released for free again, so your account has either messed up, or you're just pre-loading, and it'll ask you to buy it when you double click it.
 
meh, i bought the game of the year edition of hl2 with css and that, dods isnt in my games :(

DoD:S has never been 'free'. You pay the extra cash for packages, you get more games.

You can buy it retail for ~£14, or on Steam for similar. It can be found in Counter-Strike:Source retail, and Day of Defeat: Source retail (obviously).

1 Mrspoon hasnt informed us of an update yet( does this mean he is playing it or hasnt got it yet?)

2 a lot of disgruntled ppl wondering if they bought it and wasted money
