Day of Defeat: Source

yes its very good, was plenty of people last time I played, although most people play on single map servers donner and avalanche being the most popular.

Played this religiously around 10 years ago, was the game that turned me from console gamer to PC gamer. Have dabbled a bit since but it will never be the same as back then. One thing it still has going for it is really good hitreg on the source engine. Kills feel satisfying.

Activity dropped off at one point (due to other game releases) not checked if it ever picked up again.

I've mixed feelings about the Source version - in many ways it was great but the gun play never felt as satisfying as the original - they put in some retarded recoil/spread system (apparently to even out the skill spread so new players wouldn't get owned so easily) which is just silly.

EDIT: Echo what Ayahuasca said though - the hit reg on a good day was so much better than infantry play in i.e. BF4 and many current multiplayer FPS games which does make it much more satisfying to play atleast for me as I tend to take FPS games half seriously and dying due to poor hit reg winds me up no end.

Source ruined this game. The best version of it was the one just before it went on STEAM or the old 3.1 where it still had bleeding. The Source version is an abomination.

Have to agree. I played this at clan ladder level on 3.1. Loved it to bits... but Source ripped the soul out of it.

I LOVED the original Day of Defeat, it was awesome.

Day of Defeat source was terrible. Stupidly high recoil, enormous on screen guns, clunky and was just crap imho.

3.1 was amazing.

Source was good too, but last time I played the numbers had severely decreased and it wasn't as fun as it once was.
