So, my first day off sick as supervisor, feel really bad for actually phoning in sick as we are mega short staffed today, being a non-delivery day, 3-4 staff all day, now theres 2-3, barely enough to run the shop, let alone well!

Urgh, I feel terrible, feels like a sumo sat on my chest, cant hear properly, chundering a fair bit. Chest infection has gone too far, time to phone docters, only 1 week late :P

If you're well enough to post on OcUK you're well enough to go to work!

Well that's what I get in my ear on my "SICK" days ;p

It happens to the best of us. Get yourself sorted out otherwise you’ll be off again.

I phoned the doctors, but there fully booked, so the Asthma nurse is giving me a ring back this morning, good job really, I have Asthma aswell, just should have gone docs when i started with the chest infection, not a week later,

I used to just say "man up, get into work. Just dont sneeze on anyone!"

However, I ended up working/playing sport through a Chest infection, and ended up with Pleurisy....

Now, if I am properly ill. I get fixed before I carry on.

The day I got back from a Week in Ibiza, I was ill with the flu, I called in sick as I was too unfit to go to work, everyone in work though I was taking the pee even my boss (thinking it was a holiday hangover), however I took a sick day, then came back in the following day, what did I do? infect everyone in the office :D

Love it when I prove people wrong.

If you're sick, you're sick - simples.

Day 40 of being sick now. I begged my company to let me do some work from home but no dice. Just got told not to worry and get well. First time off sick since I joined 8 years ago. If you are sick you are sick, its obvious who throws sickies and deserves derision and who is genuinely sick and deserves sympathy.

Think I've had 6 occasions of sickness (each was only one day) so far this year. Which is obviously too many. Thankfully it's only a part-time job and therefore not the end of the world should it turn to formals etc.

Always find that, even if you are genuinely sick, calling in, (whilst it seems like a good thing before you do), always feels like a huge guilt trip put on you.

Amazing the number of people who don't get this, go into work and then spread whatever they have to the rest of the workforce.

Management who push the "unless your limbs are falling off you better be in work" mentality should be shot.

i normally go sick when i have a cold , some people say "its only a cold" but if im working i like to be 100% fit . with colds you go to work and come home you just feel even worse

Agreed. I also rarely suffer from colds, so when I do get them they're usually 100x worse. :(

Also, I work for a small company, if half the people there get sick... we... that would be... umm... bad.
