Does anyone know if Dayton wire wheels have been banned in the UK?

I went to a large wheel retailer locally to see about prices for my '62 Impala and was told they are not legal to sell over here anymore

Is this true or are they just not able to get hold of them and want to sell me something else??

Probably are banned from selling them to you, but there would be no problems importing a set I would imagine.

How does that work then? I'd imagine if they're banned from selling them there might be an outright ban - are they dangerous?

Even if they are illegal to fit to modern cars and I did not know they were they would be very unlikely they were for a car from back in 62. Normally such laws are set from a date and car from before the said date the law does not apply. I have a quick look though and could not see any sort of law that could stop you using old school spoked wheels on a car from 62. But even if they were it would still be 100% legal to sell then as long as there sold for off road use only. It is like those retrofit HID headlight bulbs you can get. Even though there 100% illegal to use on the road people still sell them.
