Ok so my laptop is deciding not to charge properly. It will charge if I hold the charger in hard into the laptop, but only if i do this. It fits it perfectly and has a satisfying "click" to it, so its not loose. Looking at the power socket itself, it looks to be ever so slightly back, i mean like less than 1mm, but i guess this could be enough to set it off?
Researching online it seems to be a common problem with laptops that the DC socket either malfunctions, is loose or broken completely. In my case it does work, but only if i push the plug really hard into it, which of course isn't really practical at all.
So im just wondering has anyone here experienced this and got it repaired? I saw on eBay various services in which you send them the laptop and they repair it and send it back. Found one for £39.99 including delivery back by DHL, so it seems decent enough and far far cheaper than other places. (Although strangely the same guy has another ad for the same service but £60+vat+extra for delivery!).
So really i just want to hear what you guys think and if you have any experience with this then it would certainly reassure me. I guess its taught me a lesson about buying second-hand!
But i got it for £180 and considering the specs (C2D 1.6Ghz, 2Gb ram, 250GB HDD, 8600GS) its a real shame to just let it go to waste. For £40 extra it seems stupid not to fix it cause it works perfectly bar the charging.
