For what it's worth, it's an easy repair if you buy in a new socket or a difficult one if you try to repair the existing one. A shop will be likely to charge you somewhere between 50 and 120 quid for it, should be possible to source the part online for under a tenner.
DC-jacks co uk have them all and about the best prices, IF you can navigate their site.
To do the repair you will need a decent solider sucker or a de-solder station and a decent soldering iron, nothing worse than doing this repair with a gas iron, just isnt worth it.

i have gone through around 10 Gas Irons in the last 7 years, i now have a Wella Digital Station and the change in performance is unbelievable, full heat in seconds, its accurate and constant, Gas irons are not a constant heat + the blow heat on the surround components is the main issue, i have on many occasions burnt bits of laptop not made to be burnt. lol.
I know it isnt a substitute for a full soldering station, but in 15 years or more i have never managed to burn a board and that is soldering on kit fitted in-situ on site and on the bench. The pyropen has a proper exhaust for heat and it is opposite the soldering tip position so it doesn't blow hot air down onto the board. The portasol ones however, seem to have a round echaust that vents every which way.
HAHAHA!
i am sorry bud, i jynxed you, i accept full (virtual) responsibility
EDIT : Just noticed your in Congleberry! not far from me... i change my plea, i do not accept responsibility.
PS, i do a lot of shooting over your neck of the woods.
