What should I be paying for one of these? 70,000 miles seems about the average, so take that into account.

I'm seeing a few that seem really good for 4-5K, but I seem to recall them being around 7K last time I looked. Have they dropped in price? Is that price about right? Are they more likely to be dodgy?

A late 98 spec JDM will set you back nearer 7k. Earlier UK/JDM models will set you back about 4/5k. 1998 spec JDM is the most desired, hence the price. Older ones have dropped a bit over the last 12 months.

The red and black uk ones also command a bit of a premium over the white ones - also they are later models (99-) i think. 7k is a bit high if thats a champ white one with 70k, prob nearer 6200-6500.

£7k seems a ridiculously stupid amount of money for a 10 year old Honda especially when the DC5 starts at only 2k more than that for one half the age?

Nah your looking at nearly double that for a good condition DC5. The 98 spec JDM came in in 1998 and ran to 2001 with the final rx version.

5k should be fine for a nice UK spec or JDM 96 spec, don't be put off by high milers.

I wonder if we'll ever have a DC2 thread where a DC5 isn't mentioned:p

Well worth checking above link as thats mega cheapness for a DC2 might need to sign up to view thread

That's massively expensive :/ I'd rather have one with 60-70k on the clock and save a few grand.

That's actually one of the ones I was looking at! Seemed a little too good to be true. And I do agree with Fox, it is a 10 year old Honda, but we all know they're a little bit more special than that, and looking at prices of other ones, that one kinda stood out as a little suss.

edit: IPBA's PH link.

edit edit: Huh? You've changed the link from a seriously well priced one on Pistonheads to a ridiculously expensive minter on the ITR forums.

Mine was 5k for a 96 spec with 79k miles, worth every penny.
When looking check for water in the boot though, the rear light seals fail with age and let water in. Only grumble I have had with mine was the leak, bar that its pure driving sex.
Fox is right though, it rattles and the interior is ass, but thats not the point of the teg.

I won't be posting the price I'll be paying for my next one then :o

Might be looking at a White 2000 Plate Type Rx, 19K Miles.

Neil.

19k miles? Someone has obviously enjoyed owning that over the last 8 years. Not. Has it ever even got up to temperature? And you are going to pay a huge premium for it and cringe every time you take it out and bash the huge residual it has due to the obsession people have with ultra low milers? :p

Streets of Tokyo cars like that are weekend only machines.

Does that mean you'll be selling yours, neil?
I wrote it off in Feb hitting a deer, bought back and sold for parting the day after it was delivered to my house.

Been looking at loads of JDM cars, all not to my standards. So will be looking at the 19K car which has just arrived in from Japland or I'll import one to my requirements.

Neil.
