Hi guys

I was using PC6400 RAM whihc had to be RMA'd so I bougthna cheap generic stick which the speed is PC5300.

I have been running it at PC6400 speeds -800mhz via the BIOS setting from previous RAM, and its been running sorta ok. 2 reboots in 6hours!

Obvisiously, I have setup the speed correctly after remembering what I had done.

I'm very shocked the RAM even ran! are you? Cheap 1GB stick of DDR2 ram, from trancedy (or sommat) for £24

Not surprised tbh, DDR2 clocks very well and lots of value PC5300 on sale here can do DDR2 800 without too much problem I expect.

Have you tried increasing the voltage (won't go over 2.1V on generic RAM TBH) and see if it does DDR2 800?

No, I haven't tried to up the voltage, not really too much point, as I waiting for my OCZ replacement to be del - hopefulyl Monday/Tuesday from OCUK

Anyway I was just surprised generic cheap RAM would run at that o/c speed - although occasional lockups (once every 3hours-ish)

I think that DDR2's becoming a pretty mature tech now, so there are few sticks which won't clock quite a bit.

Whack up the volts and see how far it goes :p
