I am thinking upgrading my motherboard soon, i'm just wondering whats the best choice ddr 2 or ddr 3. How much faster is ddr3 in terms of frame rates in games.

Is the differances in price really worth it ?

Thanks

Difficult to predict whether DDR3 prices will increase with the new i7's that require it because demand will be higher.. or if prices will lower because more people are buying it.

I'm no expert on these things.. but still I would like DDR3 ;d

Optimum performance from a price performance point of view is to buy RAM that matches the intended overclock.

For pretty much everyone PC2-6400 or PC2-8500 is sufficient. The return for raising memory speed above the FSB speed is very small (especially if you consider how much it costs to do so significantly, with DDR3).

Buying a 4GB kit of PC2-6400 or PC2-8500 is (literally) half the price of 4GB of PC3-1066!

For the unaware, note that Intel FSB is 4x actual (so 1333 FSB CPU = 333, 1066 FSB CPU = 266) and for DDR (any kind) it is 2x actual. Meaning to run at stock with a 1333 FSB CPU you only need 667 Mhz DDR2.

Thanks for that! :D
