DDR 3 or DDR 2 ???

Hi

Going to be getting a new MB soon and I have seen one that take DDR3 Memory..

Just wanted to know if its worth the extra cash on getting DDR3 Memory and MB

Setup will be

Intel E8200
ATI 4870
+ Other bits

If your going for C2D, then stick with DDR2.
Only touch DDR3 if your going to make the move to i7

For the price of DDR2 at the moment, I'd go with that over DDR3; wait until the prices drop.

Go with DDR2, DDR3 is much more expensive and atm the moment not a lot more performance increase.

DDR3 offers a very small performance increase. Not worth it, as others have said.

stick with high speed ddr2 much cheaper and very little performance difference on c2d

also better choice of ddr2 boards for c2d and they are probably going to be cheaper than ddr3 variants. P45 chipset is great if you are not looking at SLI

My biggest regret with my build is that my motherboard only takes DDR3. I have 2gb in there, and could really do with another 2gb (at least! Maybe even 4gb...) but really can't afford it. If I had DDR2 I could chuck 16gb in there without really hurting my pocket.
