I've just bought the following upgrade and installed this afternoon: -

  • ASUS ROG B650-A Gaming Wifi
  • Ryzen 7 7800x3d CPU
  • Corsair Vengeance DDR 5 Memory (2x16Gb) CMK32GX5M2D6000Z36
The System works but takes a while to boot (app 1 minute checking memory) before starting up.

I have EXPO enabled

I think I may have ordered RAM which is not fully compatible, any ideas?

The first time is ok a its memory training.

Are you having this slow boot each time?

Looking up CMK32GX5M2D6000Z36 its EXPO and XMP going by the Corsair website

Looking at the mobo I cannot see it listed on their list but does not mean its not going to work.

Is the bios fully up to date?

Yeah it's takes the same time consistently. I couldn't find the ram on the Asus compatibility list (qhl?) so assumed I may have picked up the wrong stuff.

32GB DDR5 on a 7800X3D will take approx. 50 seconds, you can try messing about with the memory options like context restore and so on but seems hit and miss in my experience depending quite a bit on the motherboard if you get good results or not.

Have you tried XMP? There's a few settings you can play around with like memory context restore and power down enable.

Check you've disabled any auto tune settings. The names change between brands - on Gigabyte it's high bandwidth and low latency.

Have you got your memory in the right slots? It should be the 2nd and 4th slots (slot 1 is closest to the cpu).

Yep, dimms in the rights slots (2 & 4), I have changed the MCR and this seems to have reduced the boot time to something like I'm used to. I have switched between EXPO and EXPO II but not seeing much difference.
Should I be enabling PBO?

Have you done a BIOS update? That should help POST times
