Hi, new here just brought some new stuff from OC and I have had a little problem, 1st what I brought.

Core 2 duo E6300
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3
Geil 2x1Gb PC6400 Cas 4
Sapphire Radeon X1950pro 512mb
Arctic cooling Freezer 7 pro

All was running fine for the 1st day, 2nd day I was out for 30 mins came back and the system was bleeping, I shut down and checked temps in the bios, CPU was only 27 C, I looked in the manual and it says long continous beeps is DDR error, im thinking maybe faulty memory, I have heard there have been lots of problems with Geil, also a friend of mine says there is a compatabilty issue with my mobo and the geil mem, is this right? Should I swap to something else? he said go for G.Skill.

I ran SP2004 earlier for over an hour and got no errors.

After I rebooted the bleeping stopped, it started later on and stopped again, then it did it once more a few hours ago yet now its fine, seems it only does it if I leave it doing nothing.

Any help or advice would be great, thanks guys.

Nick

Two quick questions:

1. Are you running the latest BIOS release for your motherboard?
2. Have you given the Geil memory the + .3v (to 2.1 over the default 1.8v) that the little leaflet mentions?

Now its doing 1 non stop beep, wtf does that mean?

1. No i didnt know that, just upped it now but it didnt stop the beep.
2. I updated the Bios to F10 but then I could no longer run my game Rainbow Six 3 so I put it back to F7, I dont know why it stopped this game loading, I tried everything else even re-installed windows.

Just started running Prime95 and the bleep has stopped, its like it only does it when cold and not under load.

Im gonna go insane...

Got an RMA number so returning the Geil and already ordered the G.Skill, hope it sorts it. Also ordered a case fan and mounts.

Can anyone tell me if a 550w Colours-it psu will be up to the job of a mild oc? or should I ask in another section.

Thanks

Nick
