To get the best overclock i had to change my mem to 2.9v which on the bios screen comes up red, where 2.85 doesnt

Anyone with the same model can say its safe to run my mem at 2.9v?

I wouldn't reccommend 2.9v with a 2gb kit.

Yeah you wuss :) As long as the memory is stable and not getting too hot (try and get some airflow over it if its hot to the touch) you'll be fine.

The only 2Gb kits that were fragile were the Ballistix, everything else is pretty robust.

Most performance DDR2 is rated 2.3-2.4 so it isn't that much more to reach the high end of 2.x with active cooling.

Ooops that was my fault, I didn't know you two knew each other so I thought that post was a little out of line, apologies :)
Don't worry about it, just doing your job :)

However - was it worth shoving that many volts through your 2gb kit? Was there a decent boost in overclock potential?

It did on my Ballistix, I hit 292Mhz 3-3-3, but of course they died (like all Ballisitix does) on my current Samsung UCCC, I use 2.85V to keep my timings tight at 235Mhz, but they were cheap so don't perform miracles.
