ddr1 mobo needed

I was asked to build a cheapo system for one of my mate's dad and I figured that the easiest way to go is to get an amd single core 939 with sum ddr1 and a mobo that would support ddr1.
I couldn't see in the description if this mobo supports ddr1 ram:

If it doesn't support ddr1 can sum1 help me to select the suitable components for a very cheap system at a 250-300(max) quid?
I only need:
cpu
mobo

It does support DDR1 - all socket 939 mobo's do. My mate has this mobo overclocked and he says its pretty decent all round. :)

yeah i was reading up about it and its supposed to be a decent tweaker, That bit that said that it can support dual cores confused me, cause i thought dual core CPU = DDR2
 
mine setup uses DDR1 and its 939 and it gets over 10K 3dmark 06 with OC'd 8800GTS and the bandwidth is same older DDR2s.

it would compete with a OC'd core2duo

If you pick your test very carefully, maybe. 3DMark is a graphics card test suite. If you look at more general accepted benchmarks, I doubt it, but publish your SuperPi and PCMark2005 figures and I'll publish mine. I doubt you're doing sub-13 second 1M Super-Pi's though?

Most overclocked Core2Duo's also have overclocked RAM and overclocked graphics cards so the only thing separating the two systems performance is the processor, where I suspect your AMD would not compete.

As I say, I'm prepared to be proved wrong though...

939 CPUs can't use DDR2 full stop, the integrated memory controller in the chip doesn't and never will support it. AM2 CPUs are the other way around, DDR2 and not DDR.

On LGA775 it is dependant on the board and chipset, you can get Core 2 Duo compatible boards that support DDR, DDR2 and both (but not at the same time). Whether the CPU is dual core or not has nothing to do with memory support ;)
