Hi all,

I'm looking to move over to C2D from socket 939, so at the moment I've got a few questions. I'm looking to overclock the machine, and as such was wondering what memory to go for. I realise the Balistix 5300 seems to be the thing of choice at the moment, but is there any other memory for a similar/ lesser price that has around the same clocking potential.

Cheers

Honestly, I'm not really 100% sure. I'm looking at the Gigabite MATX P35 solution (GA-G33M-DS2R I think), and people seem to be reporting that at the moment it hasn;t got a 1:1 divider meaning better ram is need or something. Unfortunately as I'm used to the world of DDR, this DDR2 lark with dividers giving hight mem freq than FSB is confusing me abit...

It is generaly considered that Balistix 5300 is the best OCing set for the price. Shaving the pennies you could get the Geil PC6400C4 for ~£10 less, but there are mixed reports with its OCing ability, with the newer sets generaly being accepted to be inferior to the earlier kits. Still OC ok though.

another vote for ballistix...check sig

also had it running 1138mhz 5,5,5,15 for a month before my WC system **** on itself and I had to downclock everything....just til I can afford a new pump/piping/res/radiator..lol
