just about to go conroe, when i can source a chip :D

just wondering if gettin some ddr2 800 is worth it over some ddr2 667, the most i'd ever want for overclocking is 400fsb (ddr2 800) ,but couldnt i just clock some ddr2 667 ram to 800?

if so what cheap ddr2 667 is pretty much guarenteed to hit 800?

only looking for 1gb for now but ive been looking at -

ballistix 1gb (1x1gb)ddr2 667 for £66
patriot low latency 1gb (2x512mb) for £70
Corsair 1GB (2x512mb)DDR2 Value Select PC5300 also for £70

any good?

I would go for the Corsair XMS2 imo - but dont know if it will overclock to 800mhz - depends on your other components aswell i suppose.

Personally I would really be buying 2gb and not 1gb. 2GB of generic DDR2 667 is only around £80-£90 and would give you a far bigger performance increase...

I think that the timings are more important than the speed of the ram. The only good thing with getting faster DDR2 ram is that you could drop the Mhz and get better timings. 677mhz with good timings would certainly be fast enough!

what do you think of the ballistix then,DDR2 PC2-5300 • 3-3-3-12 ,seems to have a lot of headroom for the overclock and is the cheapest and is only 1 stick so when i get some more memory around christmas will still only have 2 sticks instead of 4.

its not like the normal ddr ballistix is it?,that dies after 3-4 months ,i had some of that :(
