Hi

Just was lookin in CPU-Z v1.44.1 today and I noticed my Crucial Ballistix 8500 RAM is showing as PC2-6400 (400MHz) . Is that because I have the RAM set to 800MHz in the BIOS or is it telling me my ram IS PC2-6400 ?

Also FSB:DRAM is 5:6

Is that bad or good ? What is optimal ?

Cheers
M

You'll need to set it to PC8500 speeds in your BIOS.

Also set the RAM voltage (vdimm) to 2.2v for that memory.

Hi

Yeah I have tried too before (1066) but the board doesnt like it . System reboots and lockups . This is my second round of 4x1GB setups and both havent liked runing at full speeds. 800mhz was a compromise .......

I think it could be a common problem. I also ordered 2 of the pre overclocked systems in october with this same ram. I also have the exact same issue as you with both systems displaying the ram as 6400.

Just a problem with cpu-z in my opinion.

No, there was never an official JEDEC standard for DDR2 8500 memory so it never existed. 8500 ram is as CPU-Z reports, 6400 ram overclocked, and tested to run at that speed at the factory.

Thanks for clearing that up Keltic Daz,will my Board recognize this faster Ram,and adjust accordingly as its on auto apart from V-Core and FSB multi which i overclock with....thanks Davy
