Has anyone got any benchmarks. links or opinions of the performance gains of faster dd2 in games with a c2d.

I am likely to get a 6300 and have phase cooling so unless I get the Gskill HZ 6400 or something similar that clocks well, I will not be running 1:1 with any luck.

Has anyone got results showing the effect of running 1:1 or not for a system at the same cpu speed?

What difference am I likely to see between running 4200, 5400 or 6400 out of sync? Would I be better getting the cheaper memory, a chip with a higher multiplier and going for 1:1?

Gfx card is watercooled x1900xt with a CRT monitor so I generally play at 1600 except for online games. I have been playing FEAR at 800x600 - i woudl expect the cpu performance to make more of an impact here.

Cheers

Also, probably a question for the cpu forum but, am I likely to see any benefits in frames at 1600 compared to an amd64 single core at 2.7 with gskill hz3200 cas 2? How about a similarly clocked x2 or a 3gig plus single core?

Just bear in mind that if you are hoping to run the ram on a divider to slow it down, then you will HAVE to get a motherboard with the i975X chipset and NOT the cheaper i965 ones....so no P5B or DS3/4 etc.
i965 does not have the ability to run the ram slower than 1:1

I didn't know that, are you sure? doesn't the p5b just auto adjust the divider for the memory type and fsb?
