Hello,

Since I'm stuck with DDR RAM and currently the prices for these are just jawdropping. Specially the name brands out there.

My question is this. If I buy a non-named RAM sticks, would it have any negative effects with my current set up?

Specs:
CPU: E7400 @2.8Ghz (Overclocked to 3.4Ghz)
Motherboard: Asus P5QL-E
RAM : 4 GB Corsair XMS2
Graphics Card: Sapphire HD 4850 512MB.
2 x Spindle harddrives
Resolution: 1920x1080 native.

Your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Would you be aiming to use the new RAM in addition to your existing DDR2? If so, it theoretically should work ok if you buy the same speed. However, in practice mixing RAM might cause instability or even the inability to boot with all sticks.

The general advice is to buy the same as you have (not always easy), or purchase all new memory of higher capacity to replace what you have.
