DDR2 memory questions

Hi,

Right now my dad has 2GB DDR2 6400 RAM (iirc) and I'm looking to buy him a 4GB kit for Christmas.

Am I better off buying him tighter timed 6400 or looser timed 8500? Also what kits would you reccomend? I was looking at this kit - good/bad deal?

Depends what FSB:Memory Ratio he wants to reach.

I would guess your CPU either is a 1066 or 1333 FSB CPU so PC6400 is plenty if no Overclocking.

Sorry should have said - Q6600 with nothing clocked.

Not fiddled with that stuff for years now

Will have a look at 6400 stuff too then

A Q6600 has only a 1066mhz QP FSB (266mhz) so even PC4200 is enough at 533mhz.

If not overclocking 6400 is ok.
