ddr2 memory speeds

Is there much difference between for eg: 6400 and 8500?

Going to be making the switch to ddr2 and want to get 4gb.

Anyone help?

if you are not going to do a big overclock then good 6400 is perfectly fine. 8500 ram tends to be for very large overclocks.

6400 memory will reach 900-1000mhz combined with a Q6600 3.6 o/c is attainable on air

At the moment the 6400 prices are to good to ignore as well as the performance gains that can be achieved from these modules.

Correct. You want low latencies but since Intels aren't all that sensitive to latency you can let it slip in search for a good deal. RAM higher than PC2-6400 is for overclocking low multi CPUs to the extreme, and n00bs who don't know that they can be saving money.

yeh ive no idea really about the overclocking business so any good priced mem will do?
