hey guys, i'm intending to switch to DDR2, but would like to ask somethings on overclocking before i decide on what rams to get..

is the theory on the ram fsb stuffs the same?

Let's say i'm getting a C2D E4400, 200mhz multiplier of x10

If i were to get a DDR2 667 ram (333mhz)

I will be able to overclock the E4400 at least till 333mhz, if my cpu and mobo allows right?

Will be most basic asus P5B be able to get the E4400 / E6320 / E6340 to 3.0ghz?

Thanks

that ram will be fine.

if you run that cpu at x10, and use the ram on 1:1 divider.

then use 300fsb then the cpu will be at 3ghz and the ram will be at 300mhz.

and from there on you will be able to take fsb up to 333 if you want the ram at 333mhz. and the cpu will be at 3330mhz. but be carefull you dont push the cpu too far mate.

you will need to up the voltage a bit on that cpu i would have thaught. to get to 3330mhz cpu.

might do 3ghz tho on just about 1.4v.

(edit: im not actually a expert on them cpus, but i have a E6600 and it clocks easy peasy, does 3ghz on stock voltage)

thanks, for the help, btw what's the stock vcore of the E4400? and what's within the safe region?

1.325v = stock, safe = up to you, keep an eye on temps (don't want to be going much over 60c tbh, although mines been at 80c with no issues :D) 1.45v is usually safe on air, but just keep an eye on temps... if anything worries you, just post back on here with any nesessary results..
