I have a friend who has a Dell Dimension 3100 P.C. It's only got 256mb of memory in it, so I was looking to add at least another 256mb to it to give it a small boost.
I have some PC3200 DDR memory kicking about, but it doesn't seem to fit. I've compared it to the stick that is in it, and the pin position on the memory is ever so slightly different. I checked the Dell manual and it says to install DDR2 unbuffered, non-ECC memory only.
My query is - is DDR2 slightly different that ordinary DDR memory, or have Dell used some sort of a hybrid that seems to be slightly different that ordinary DDR stuff?
Just need to check so I know exactly what to order.
