I have some Corsair DDR2 PC6400 RAM, which claims to have timings of 5-5-5-5-18. I have seen other PC6400 RAM with timings down to 4-4-4-4-12.

What difference do the timings make to normal use and overclocking? i.e. Is a change in timings not noticeable or is it vital if you intend to overclock?

Ta.

In real life timings make little difference tbh. The main advantage of tighter-timing memory is that it will overclock further (simply because you can change from say 4-4-4-15 to 5-5-5-18 when it starts hitting a wall).
