DDR2 ?

I run a Abit AN9-32X Sli board with 2 X 2 gig of OCZ sli memory DDR2 PC6400-800 . I have just got 2 more 2 gig sticks of the same (I thought).
The seller sent me DDR2 8500 which is 1066, I rang him up and told him it was not the same and needed DDR2-800.
The reply was he has made a mistake in the description and it would be ok to use as it is DDR2 but it will run at the same speed as the DDR2-800 and not 1066.
Question is he blowing smoke here or will it work.

Yes it will work, I would suspect the motherboard will default to 400mhz (800mhz), I have in the past needed to manually setup the memory to run at higher speeds.

The faster memory will always run at the slowest memory speed of the existing memory. DDR2 is backwards compatible with slower speeds.
