Just after a bit of advice :)

I'm contemplating putting together a Core I7 920 build (mostly a gaming rig) and I know I'm going for 6gb of DDR3, but I'm not sure whether to go for 1333 and save about £30 or go for 1600. I fully intend to OC the CPU.

What would you guys advise?

Im in the same boat.. was thinking of 3x2 1600 CAS 8 Corsair's but I usually over spec on RAM and get way higher than I usually need. But seems a lot is todo with the amount you want to overclock by.

Well I read an article comparing 1333 and 1600 on the i7 and there were big gains in synthetic memory benchmarks (Sandra tests), but they said in real world apps there was only 1 or 2% gains at best and they'd aim for a 1333 kit, but this is just 1 opinion and I want to try and make an informed decision.

I have a set of 1333mhz ocz platinums but they overclock to 1680mhz at cas 8-7-7-20 using 1.64v. They might do more but I haven't really tried. Tested using memtest.

In the end, I found another guide that backed up the Techgage report in that in real world benchmarks there just wasn't enough difference to warrant the cost of 1600 DDR3 over the 1333, so I ordered a 6gb set of Corsair XMS3 1333 to go with my Core i7 920 and a Gigabyte EX58 UDR3 :)
