DDR3 14400+ mem or 12800 for O/C on 2600k

I'm still planning my SB 2600k build, so looking at max memory options when overclocking. Timings are still way over my head so will go to basics based on speed

So... is it normally better to have 14400+ mem or 12800? I want to go max GB memory sticks, so I know currently is around 2x4GB sticks, but I plan on getting around 16GB.

This is more for OCing the CPU rather than the actual memory itself.

Would this have any impact I should consider during OC? Cheers.

Even at 1333Mhz, SB offers the more bandwidth as the triple channel i7 1366 CPUs! 2133Mhz memory adds a lot more bandwidth, but I don't believe it's worth anything more than a few percent improvement in general performance. Personally, I'm going to save money by getting 1600Mhz stuff.

What do you do that needs 16gb? just out of idle curiosity.

Hey Todge, my main priorities lie with photography work in Lightroom and Photoshop, but starting to delve back into videography, so will be working with hidef videos in Premiere and After Effects.

Is this sufficient then?

Ahh that makes sense. Just wanted to check you weren't blindly buying the most that you could just because you could!

As for how you want, i honestly dont know. I'd say yes at least 8 in your case, 16 might be ott but on the flip side, you could always get 8 and just drop another 8 in later.
