hi all i am going to build a new pc based around an e8600 cpu and an ati 4870 x2.i am wondering if its now time to consider ddr 3.i want to use 4 gigg of ram and overclock.if no is the conclusion what ddr2 do you reccomend for the e8600 cpu...thanks.

I wouldn't bother with DDR3 - just not worth it...
the 8600 runs 333x10 at stock and you only need to run the RAM 1:1 so 667MHz RAM would be fine for stock - for OCing headroom you'd need atleast 800MHz to take it to 4gig - depending how far your going to push it then you may need to get some 1000+MHz stuff such as:
