DDR3, does it run at 1:2 from the FSB?

1:2 is usually more than enough.

If the FSB is 500mhz (pretty much the higher limit of most Core 2 Duos and Quads), then running 1:2 would have the memory running at 2000mhz (remember it's Double Data Rate memory).
 
Is there any benefit to running the RAM twice as fast as the FSB? Doesn't the RAM effectively sit waiting in this scenario?
