Afternoon everyone
I'm looking into DDR3 Mobo's and the Memory to go with it. I'm a heavy gamer and feel these parts of my system are tending to slow my overall performance down. My question is: Is the leap to DDR3 worth the expense and all in all would i need to change my CPU along side it, i mean do these DDR3's support anything other than I7's or would i be better off simply upgrading my motherboard and memory and possibly crossfiring 2 4870 512's at x16? (or possibly even a new card?)

My Motherboard and Memory at the moment were generally just quick replacements for old blown components untill i could save for something abit more extreme.

Current set-up is in my Sig.

I've got about £400-£450 to spend on some upgrades so any suggestions towards what i should do really would be appreciated ofcourse if i could spend less that's always welcome but thats about my limit.

If the leaps worth it could anyone possible put together a mobo ram and if a changed cpu is required an I7 (this i understand will more than likely go over my budget)

Thanks.

Yeah? Well i'm still pretty much in need of a new mobo. My cheap one itself won't even allow Xfire, Any suggestions on a mobo that would be ideal for Xfire ?

How are these for overclocking aswell? I will be overclocking and would like to get a relativly nice clock out of my Q6600

I had an Asus P5Q Pro before hand which blew, I Xfired on that before with the exact same card as mine and there was no performance gain at all, I was still seeing slightly low frames on max graphical detailed games. I assumed that was down to the x8 instead of x16? I tried everything to solve the issue but no matter what i did there no was no gain with 2 4870's on the Asus P5Q Pro mobo.

I tried quite a few games, Crysis obviously was my first choice, Wow at the time i was playing it, Farcry 2, Benchmarks even showed no sign of increased performence.
