I had some bother with my ram/mobo.

I recently got a h55m-e33 motherboard and 8gb of 1600mhz ram.

windows wouldn't boot with more than 2gb at 1.6 volts, I upped that to 1.65 and now I can have 4gb (2x2gb sticks)

Naturally I want to run all 8gb, but don't really know what the max volts I can safely use.

Anybody know?

my specs

h55m-e33 (m-atx)
i5-750 @stock
4 x 2GB pc3-12800 1600mhz ddr3
4870x2
vista business 64
creative x-fi soundcard
corsair 650w psu
160gb sata hdd
80gb ata hdd
dvd rw drive

thanks in advance

Intel spec states 1.65v... up the VTT a little but make sure its within 0.5V of the memory modules and you should be fine for 1.72v or similar. I wouldnt go for more though.. could cause issues.

no, I downloaded it and didn't have a clue how to run it.

I ran prime95, the ram intensive option and it crashed on three cores in under a minute.

I thought one could run memtest in windows but obviously not. I'll read up on it and give it a go

I found the memtest for windows and it came up with an error before it had even 5% coverage.

I'll revert back to one and test all four sticks independantly.

thanks for your advice, seems like the problem is either a bad stick or bad dimm slot.

I've tested all ram independently with memtest with over 500% on all sticks without any crashing.

When testing the system with prime95 (the Blend, "lots of ram tested" option) the system crashes instantly.

I believe the problem is with the motherboard, an RMA form is on its way.
