DDR3 vs DDR2 test at AnandTech

In Standard/Buffered memory bandwidth, the P35 (Bearlake) chipset is providing a 16% to 18% improvement in memory bandwidth compared to the P965. This is a significant improvement.
This was using the same DDR2, so that is saying this chipsets northbridge is pulling an extra 16%-18% from the DDR2 sticks!

Gets you an extra 1FPs in games lol! :D

Good to know! :)

it is. but from what they are saying the p5k ddrII board performs identically to the p5k3 ddrIII board. which is quite surprising given they are both a fair amount faster than the p965

What part is surprising? Aren't they saying that the DDR3 benefit is offset perfectly against the better timings of DDR2 on the P35 chipset? And that the memory controller means that P35 > P965 for both scenarios?
