I currently have 32GB 2400 paired with a Ryzen 1600. Would it be worth 'downgrading' to 16GB @ 3000/3200? Hoping I could flip the 32GB to cover the cost of the 16GB just wondering if I'd see much of a performance boost to make it worthwhile.

Just general use really with some gaming such as football manager and midrange FPS games.

There is a performance difference but probably not something you will feel in day to day gaming.

Why do you need 32GB RAM as surely you wouldn't buy that much without "needing" it?

With a bit of luck you could go from 2400c16 (guessing c16) to 3333c14 or 3466c15 depending on your cpu for 2 x 8gb 3200c14 8 pack ram (this ram is Samsung Bdie based which performs better with Ryzen than Hynix based ram)

The performance gains depend on what you are doing and vary by game and app, below gives a rough idea with many similar articles available.

Before changing make sure your bios is up to date along with all drivers including chipset drivers. Also I found to make 32gb 3266c14 stable I had to increase vcore from 1.2v to 1.25v, soc stayed at 1.13v and ram stayed at 1.4v. Depending on what ram you have a bit of tweaking may get you closer to 3000 or beyond.

Thanks! I've been digging but aside from youtube vids that don't show a whole lot I've been coming up a bit empty.

Thanks! Ended up with 32GB from an amazon warehouse deal for ~£140 back in December when the appealing 16GB 3000 sticks were all OOS or costing way over my budget.
