My newish pc turned off randomly and wouldn't post, I found out its the ram by switching to an old stick (3200hz 8 gb) to eventually get a post on my pc.
Since then I've tested the ram that was originally in my pc (3600hz 16gb x2) in my other computer and works fine, I wounder if anyone has an explanation for this? As I'd like to use the original ram in (3600hz 16gb x2) back in
Motherboard: msi pro b760m-p ddr4
Cpu: I5 14600k

Maybe need a bios update? Or the RAM is pulling too many volts? I'd say the answer lies in your BIOS. I'm sure someone here will help you,I'm certainly not an expert.

Xmp is technically overclocking the ram
So yes could cause an issue
Stick it in your other pc
Then run memtest on it to see if it fails the test
Make sure you have latest bios
A lot of bios updates address memory stability
Memtest came back fine, if I update the bios how do I know my cpu will be still compatible? Is this a thing? Thanks

Your cpu will still be compatible
Bios updates can enable new cpus to be used sometimes
They don't remove cpus that already work
With previous bios versions
