DDR4 i7 6700 and ASUS z170m-plus

Hi

Components are:

CPU: i7 6700 (non k)
RAM: Corsair 16GB White Vengeance LPX DDR4 3000MHz
Motherboard: ASUS Z170M-PLUS

Is it possible to overclock the RAM with this configuration?

Yes, you can overclock the RAM on that board, you just can't overclock the CPU as it's a non-K. To be honest though, the 3000MHz XMP profile should just run out of the box and be stable without you having to fiddle around setting the timings manually.

I tired using the XMP profile and the system failed to boot. I am away from my pc until Monday. When I return I'll pay around with the settings a bit more and post my results.

It could be that the system needs a touch more RAM voltage for example. Sounds like you do need to mess around with the settings.
