There was a supplier who had 90 sets of 2x16GB 4800 stuff yesterday going for £157 which indicated the 50% uptick over DDR4. Today I looked and they had 60 sticks at £175 ! Reminds me of the 30xx series gpu fun from nvidia ...

Having seen initial Alder Lake leaks I almost regretted not waiting, but looking at cpu/DDR5/motherboard prices it would be a large amount of money , a lot more than my AMD 5800X , existing DDR4 and cheap B series motherboard.

I recommend ordering a cheap DDR5 kit that you can sell on later, if you want to be able to play/boot. Snapped up a 16GB 4800Mhz kit earlier today, will get me by until I can order at least a 5800Mhz, preferably 6200+ 32GB speed kit later this year.

OCUK webnote advised me DDR5 is due to restock in December... That could easily translate to January what with covid, holidays, delays etc..

You can likely OC the cheap kits to that level as they are only 4800 @1.1v the 6000+ kits are all 1.25 from what I've seen so maybe try some manual tuning.
