Hi all

There’re a ton of “what RAM should I buy” threads so here’s a DDR5 RAM buying guide from Buildzoid.

Mods, please let me know if this is not allowed but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be.

TLDR:

Want a cheap kit that you can overclock and is stable and fast? Get the TEAMGROUP T-Create Classic 10L DDR5 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 5600 MT/s

CTCCD532G5600HC46DC01

AMD: go buy Hynix XMP 6000 MT/s CL30

Intel: 6800 MT/s CL30 A Die works on almost any Intel 13th gen.

For a good Intel RAM get Corsair 6600 MT/s CL 32 for good out of the box performance using XMPs.

24gig modules can overclock better than 16gig modules (will elaborate).

Intel memory controllers are all over the place and are often weak or even rubbish.

Z690 boards are no way near as good at posting high end RAM speeds as Z790.

2 DIMM motherboards are much better at DDR5 Overclocking.

Edit: Here's an Intel memory scaling guide from Hardware Unboxed with help from Buildzoid

Regards

Is that a 2 dimm board or dose a 4 dimm board that’s running just 2 dimm work just a good?
As Tetras said, it’s a 2 DIMM only motherboard rather than a 4 DIMM with only two modules installed.

You can get better stability with only 2 DIMMs installed in a 4 DIMM motherboard but it’s not as good as a 2 DIMM only board.

You’ll also see dedicated overclocking boards also put the 2 DIMM slots as close to the CPU as possible to improve RAM overclocking by shortening the connecting traces (such as the evga z790 kingpin).

Added the Hardware Unboxed Intel memory scaling video which was created in collaboration with Buildzoid to the original post so that it doesn't get lost in the thread.

Anyone tried the 32gb sticks?

It looks great memory but I can’t find any UK sources, just US imports with no warranty.
The 64gig kits (32gig by 2)?

Those are pretty niche kits but I'm sure someone has them. Maybe look at US forums for insights.

As for how to buy a pair, why don't you PM/email the OC mods/sales team?

Hi mate,
Yes, 2 by 32 Gigs. I'm sure @Gibbo looks at the forums, not sure why they don't. Look great kits.
Maybe the number of people who make use of those RAM kits is so low that it’s not worth putting on the website?

I would stock the 64gig kits to cater for the high end users as they are the kind of users who would buy a 4090.

Seems to be the best that gives you options. I’m sure Samsung will perfect their dies to achieve higher / tighter timings so in no rush. Running the default 6000@36 which is on Samsung B Die, can push 34 with 1.38 volts but seems hardly worth it.
Why not just get the kit of M die from TeamGroup that I mentioned in my original post?

I thought the TeamGroup were A Die. With my limited knowledge on DDR5 I thought M-Die was only good to 1.35 volt and more restrictive?
Well Hynix M die or A die work really well for overclocking by Buildzoids description so I don’t think you need to spend too much time looking for RAM.

I’d rather take known good ram at a good price over buying a ton of kits and trying to bin them until you get an elite kit.

Your choice tho.
