Hi,

I live in a converted mill with single glaze metal frame windows, and every night the windows of the whole building will fill with condensation and I'm left with a lovely puddle on both sills. Now I'm in the market for a device that will extract all this excess moisture from the bathroom and drying washing etc.

I've seen these in the catalogue, are they unto the job/good value?

Looking for anyone that has purchased one in the last year or two or knows someone who has, finding a buyer’s guide for such thing is a wee bit hard. :p

Have they worked reliably, made a difference to the damp in your house?

Thanks

  • 2 litre water tank.
  • Extracts 10 litres of water per day.
hmmmmmmm If you've got a lot of air it will fill incredibly quickly.

I've got a similar one from b&q for about the same money but you can fit a pipe to the back of it and have it drain into the sink or something so you don't have to constantly empty it. Bought it a couple of years ago so they might not do it anymore.

Its rented accommodation, so no structural changes. The windows are listed so can't be touched. The company did admit there was a problem but people should have know that when they purchased the property. They were kindly reminded that adding no ventilation what so ever and installing extractor fans in the bathroom’s that are meant to be used in toilet cubicles that they failed miserably to deal with the problem.

Cheers, I was looking for one with a pipe so I can leave it on the sill. The flat is a mezzanine so the whole flat is as one, if you can see what I mean. I'll visit both on the way home.

I've always wanted to put a humidifier in the corner of a room with a de-humidifier in the other corner and let them fight it out. Sorry for the tangent.

I just bought a £99 one down from £150, stuck it on, it's 92% humidity upstairs  20Litre tank should be full up soon :p

For the prices of those ones in Argos, you may aswell get an Ebac (Rolls Royce of domestic DH's)

We've had ours for 6-7 years, used every day and not one hint of a problem with it. :)

Remember to get a humidity gauge though, or you may walk in to a room and find the wallpaper's come off!
