De-lidded 3770k!!

yeah 4.5ghz,1.212v so far im still tweaking,+0.020 dvid and llc high,im using a silver arrow cooler though and just one fan atm

Wow, that's a good chip mine was 1.28V for 4.5GHz, +0.090V. If lower offset some games would crash when minimizing and resuming, I assume because of the C1E not using the right voltages, but was fine at +0.090V and "low" LLC.

Very very tempted to de-lid my i7 3770k as im currently hitting 80 degrees under a custom water loop @ 4.5ghz and was hitting 92 degrees at 4.6ghz and that's with pretty low voltage :(

Gutted for you Brian and its put me off a bit but I still keep thinking about it, I have brand new Stanley blades or a full craft set of scalpels I can use, hmmmm.....

Thanks! :) I will still be tempted, I think if I upgrade D-14 to an Everest or watercooling I won't be bothered to remove the heatsink again. I think it would be easier if I used the right tool, but the PCB is so very delicate I'm scared to do it again. Once you take the IHS off it feels like a whole new thing, it feels weightless.

80C is fine for these chips isnt it? What is temps during normal use that's all I go by on these chips myself. Mine was under 60C on normal load in games so I was happy with that at 1.28V, Prime95 was just to test for stability rather than temps.

I'd rather do it myself. Also knowing how easy it is to mess it up, I'd say it's far too much of a gamble. If overclockers sold them delidded and sealed with warranty I'd have bought one if they charged £30-40 on top.

Temp wise at current 4.5ghz under water is around 45 degrees idling on the desktop, pushing high 60's gaming and 80-ish while folding or stressing...

Thing is the core temps go up straight away so its nothing to do with the WC being in-efficient as the water temp stays pretty low, have to assume there is just not enough heat transfer going on between the core die and IHS :(

what voltages, llc level? and what board

idle voltages are high,im at 21-24,load im 72c @4.5

I duno why it wasn't dispatched though, I ordered early enough and all in stock. :( QQ.

I don't shave so they are pretty hidden anyway. :D
