I seen a lot of stuff about 4670k chips having bad thermal past on the processor chip and if you take it off and re-apply some new stuff it makes a huge improvement in temperatures.

Is de-lidding it an easy thing to do or is there a lot of high risk involved?

I delidded my 4670k with the vice only method, and delidded my 6700k with the Rockit 88 delid tool.

I found it quite easy both ways, I only got the tool as the 6700k has a thinner pcb compared to 4670k.

Made a massive difference in temps with both CPUs.
