On the face of it this sounds like a very good idea, for the planet, for the climate, for slave labour for fast fashion and for the despots everywhere.

Tbf, $800 was hardly "de minimis" anyway and was the highest threshold in the world. In the UK it's £135, so reducing it is not that big of a deal.

Next year $800 may be worth £135.
