Hello, wondering if anyone has any trouble shooting suggestions before I admit defeat and take my place at the back of the 3080/6800xt queue ☹️.

Ran a windows update last Monday I believe and a driver update, come the Wednesday when I switch the pc on I was greeted with a blank screen. PC comes to life all the fans etc spool up but no picture, I changed display cable and also hooked up to my tv via hmdi, tv recognised the input but still no picture. I have reseated the gpu, memory and cpu, replaced the cmos battery on the motherboard but no dice. Card is out of warranty.

I think the windows update/nvidis drivers update would be a coincidence since presumably I should still be able to see my post/bios screen even if that had gone wrong.

specs:

asus sabertooth x99
5820k @4.2 GHz
Evga 1080ti ftw3
16gb RAM
850w seasonic psu
1tb nvme + 2x Sata ssds +2x sata hdds

I had no real intention of upgrading, sat out 2000 series and the above spec was running what I play fine, I was aware of stock issues with new kit but didn’t realise how much of a disaster it was so hopefully someone can suggest something I have haven’t thought of. I am assuming it’s the gpu, could be anything I guess and i don’t have another one to rule that out.

Sounds like the GPU to me. If it were a software issue, then you would still have picture before the drivers loaded. Any unusual behaviour from your system in the days prior?

The 2nd hand market may be your best bet. You can get test your rig to see if it works with another GPU, and it will tide you over until your place on the queue comes up.
